MOONRAKER

MOONRAKER

The birth of the MoonRaker design concept came to me driving home from sharing afternoon tea with the Guru of Flex, George Greenough where we  talked story and discussed our shared lifetime passion for Flex.

Using the longer lines of a 7'4 pintail gun, I then 4'' cut from the nose to shorten overall length while holding the long projection lines. The Moonraker has low entry rocker with a parabolic, progressive speed-continuous curve throughout, mirrored and accentuated through the concave. Quick release rocket tail, fed by a deep single concave within defined twin narrow vee control planes loosen the design right up without sacrificing drive.

When I launched the first protype, I was fortunate to get a test session of 3-6ft down the line waves, 200 + yard rides. The board literally flew, at times barely contacting the water...quick as lightning, long speed arcs...and total control in tight carves and S turns. The low rocker gives exceptionally easy wave entry and instant board speed, the V2Flex construction enables variable arcs and slingshot / reflex projection. Driving this board hard, cranking it down the hi line, it has no "top end " limitation to its speed and will keep going faster and faster with the wave. The Switch Blades fins felt totally positive, an integral part of the board, drag utterly minimised. The concept was absolutely proven and the Moonraker was released to my customers. I rate this board as an absolute break through design that incorporates so much of my fifty plus year exploration of concaves into it.

The Moonraker design translates well right through the size range from under 6 ft to 8ft.

Suggested wave range: 2- 8 feet +

Fin configurations recommended: with its broad tail, its best as a dedicated quad fin
